A small museum that makes full use of its compact size with exhibits to amaze and delight the young - there are timelines demonstrating the legacy of Wellington as an international (colonial) port (look out for the animated rat & cat :)), Maori stories told through the media of holographic representation and a real captains cabin to step into from a 19th Century vessel. The interactive displays and information will keep most entertained for an hour or so…
Beyond the museum are a maze of streets inviting you to dine on a veritable shmorcousboard of food from around the globe and shop to your hearts content at a plethora of stores (especially if you want jade jewellery)… A slightly longer walk will take you into the delightful botanical gardens where during good weather you can while away a few hours…
