The Art Gallery of New South Wales

After the Botanical Garden it is on to the Art Gallery of New South Wales - This is wonderful with Victorian Grandeur written all over its edifice (Along with frescos and two whopping great statues representing war and peace). Entering the Art galleries you will see the very best that Australia has to offer… both contemporary and Old Masters. I have little interest in modern art so quickly descend on the painting and sculptures exhibition halls… Glorious paintings filling entire walls depict; cavalry charges during the Napoleonic wars, the Queen of Sheba visiting King Solomon and the battle of Rorkes Drift to name but a few… But for me the greatest single piece of artwork on display here is ‘Eve’, a wonderfully emotive interpretation of the creation of the first women. However, do not take it from me - check out the galleries and make your own judgement.
