Blazing a trail to Melbourne using Firefly

Fancy naming your bus company after a TV series?!! Well after packing the backpack it is time to place my life in the hands of public transport and the aviation style seating of the bright orange Firefly coach - Yep no lay-flat or lay-cramped beds here, just the limited recline seating 0_0
The journey is a 10 hour slog through the night with regular rest stops for the driver - this invariably means that I have almost no sleep 0_0 but do get to alight the bus for coffee and snacks at a ‘Road house’ (the name for the truck stops) where we find a huge number of trucks of all sizes and a building besieged with locusts!! The front of the coach tells its own story with a thick covering of locust bodies over the windscreen and bull bar style protection.
Still we arrive into Melbourne spot on time and the driver is fantastic in getting us all organised and headed in the right direction :)

The Melbourne Southern Cross terminal (main bus and train station) is wonderfully modern with an arching ceiling and wide open concourses leading happily to several coffee bars open early for breakfast… Also in the entrance I find a HUGE interactive display for the up coming F1 race here in Melbourne J The Red Bull team has its F1 car parked in a prominent position and as I am sipping my hot coffee and chomping into a ham and cheese croissant the dust cover is thrown off and it is revealed in all its gleaming blue and red glory to the public :)
